University Book Shop Redevelopment

Feldspar were engaged to provide advice on redeveloping the University Book Shop, ensuring it remained the anchor tenant while incorporating additional tenants. The client opted to add residential tenancies on the first floor, transforming a former confectionery factory into vibrant, light-filled apartments.

We guided the project from the feasibility stage through design, consent, construction, and handover. Situated right on the university's doorstep, these apartments sit above the cherished University Book Shop. The new fitout of the bookshop honours the unique branding, preserving the building's character with its distinctive brickwork and rustic timber trusses. This complements the quality living spaces above, showcasing an exemplary rehabilitation of Dunedin's CBD heritage.
